I found this book healing. I read it 5-6 years after completing my residency in pediatrics. It brought up many of my emotions from those draining times. We physicians need to do more creative and emotional analysis of our work, and this book is one of those projects.

This is a wonderful book, beautifully written, about becoming a healer and also about becoming a full human being. These stories convey the frustration, sadness, dignity, strength, successes and failures the families and caregivers of these children experience and learn from. I only wish that I knew where to find physicians like Dr. Mohrmann for myself and my family.
