I've been a full time ED physician for 34 years. This is an English book. The presentation is more of a checklist format than the more common, and to my mind less usable, algorithm or narrative format found in American EM medical handbooks. The book is well organized, highly cross-referenced, easy to use and presents very practical approaches to an extensive array of acute internal medicine ED issues. Some of the medication recommendations and sequencing are minimally different than American ED physicians may be used to, but all are evidenced based and very much within acceptable standards. Also, a few of the lab units used are different than US hospitals use, but are all easily convertible and not much of a problem. Overall, I'd rate this the best handbook of it's kind that I have read and used. I strongly recommend it. Jack Cartier MD FAAEM
