The purpose of this program is to improve the anesthesia management of patients with pulmonary or vascular disease. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1: Diagnose CO2 retention.
2: Recognize and manage dynamic hyperinflation.
3: Explain the differences between the pulmonary and cardiac forms of pulmonary hypertension and their implications for anesthesia management.
4: Identify the hemodynamic considerations for a patient with severe aortic stenosis.
5: Manage the neurologic risks presented by a patient with severe carotid or aortic stenosis.
